EDDIE & COOKIE

My wife and I formed a duo called "Eddie and Cookie" playing 1950's music with full stage shows that I built with cars and a burger stand - very colourful.  We played regularly all around Vancouver and did "Timothy's Telethons" several times which was a Vancouver television show.  A friend Nancy Vangough who had a talent agency asked us to try out for a move part.  Cookie and I went to try outs and were accepted for the part.

We were cast as two German singers and were to wear leather shorts and fancy shirts.  Cookie said I'm not wearing that so I asked if we could wear our Eddie and Cookie costumes.  The producers said it would be okay to wear our outfits but they couldn't change our performer names.

The movie was called "Duets" and had all kinds of famous and to be famous people in it.  This was a fantastic time for Eddie and Cookie and the pay was pretty good as well and we even had our own movie trailer to stay in.

THE HANDLEY PAGE GROUP

Larry was in several start-up bands in his early years as a second guitar and lead vocalist when he finally got into a band that had bigger aspirations.  "The Handley Page Group" a Vancouver based English rock cover band, performed all over BC and Canada in the early 1970's.

The group was very creative and claimed notoriety as "Vancouver's No. 1 Rock Group" famous Bruce Allen Talent Agency.  Moreover, the band made "Canada's Best From Canada's Best" Rock Band List called "Concept".  Larry began writing original songs for the group and the band incorporated them into their live performances.  One of the highlights of "The Handley Page Group" was in late 1975 with a tour across Canada featuring performances in Winnipeg, Montreal and Toronto's CNE with over 12000 people.

In Toronto, the Band performed on CBC National TV for a Rock Band Showcase called "ROQ" hosted by Terry David Mulligan.  At that time, Handley Page's lead guitarist was Keith Scott who went to to play with "Zingo", another local Vancouver rock band.  Keith continues to play professionally as lead guitarist with Bryan Adams.
